Hiking in Luzern, for Sun and Lights
Anyone up for spending a day in Luzern and discovering its "sunny mountain" and the festival of lights?
Legend has it that Luzern was founded under the guidance of an angel, who pointed a ray of light over the chosen spot. And so the settlers built a town there. These days, the angels may be elsewhere in the skies, but a light festival is taking place in Luzern.
Given that the latest weather forecast promises a rather sunny afternoon, the plan is to combine a walk on the Sonnenberg mountain with a stroll across the "Lilu" light festival. More specifically, we'll walk along the famous St James' Way, that ultimately leads to Santiago de Compostela. Of course, we won't reach Spain and even the Werthenstein abbey checkpoint is out of reach. However, what we can do is enjoy the scenic slopes and fields of the Sonnenberg mountain. The views over Lake Luzern and Pilatus and Rigi mountains might be even more special, following the snowfall that's expected between Friday and Saturday.
