I was able to connect with other expats in Zurich who enjoy cycling as much as I do and organize weekly rides.
Welcome to the InterNations Expat Community Here in Basel!
Wilkomme! Wie goots? Hello, how are you? We welcome you to the beautiful city of Basel, Switzerland…and France…and Germany. That's right, your new home sits at the meeting point of three countries, which makes it the perfect place to meet up with your fellow expats. At InterNations, we can help make your move to your new home much less stressful and overwhelming by introducing you to other expats who are already settled and part of the Basel Community. They can help you with the questions not answered by guidebooks, such as: Where can I find a trustworthy general practitioner? What are the local laws? Where is the nearest supermarket? You will find almost any information you need by logging into our city-specific forums here on our website and if you can't, feel free to ask anything you want.

Basel: Discover This Beautiful City with New Friends!
The tri-national city of Basel is the third most populous city in Switzerland (behind Zurich and Geneva) but is still a relatively small city in terms of people: the population was last recorded at 174,753 and of that 32.3% were born outside of Switzerland. A big expat community enjoys Basel's highlights, which include The Old Town of Basel; Switzerland's second-tallest building, the Basler Messeturm; and the famous red sandstone Gothic edifice, the Münster. Basel is home to some of the most exquisite architecture in the world and is the headquarters of many famous architects including Herzog & de Meuron who designed the world-famous Tate Modern and the Bird's Nest Olympic Stadium in Beijing. You can enjoy a large sporting community playing ice hockey, football and, of course, tennis — Basel is the hometown of superstar tennis player, Roger Federer. If sports and architecture don't interest you, Basel's culture has something for everyone — if you're a foodie, try our delicious Mässmogge, a praline-filled candy — das ist lecker!
