Weekend Trip to Valais (Night of Museums N.5!)
Are you ready for yet one more journey to Brig? It's time to start preparing for one of our favourite Swiss events: the night of museums in Valais! With free museums, trains, cable cars and much more awaiting us, can we possibly resist the call of the Swiss canton?
Of course not! The full program is already out, at Protected content : as usual, the big challenge will be to pick a handful out of the gazillion events that Valais has kindly arranged for us. Will we stick to the museum of Vatican guards, which features a vast underworld that would be impossible to explore on other days, or will we travel farther than Sion, to visit the museum world in Martigny or have a bowl of the legendary soup in Iserables? A lot will depend on the weather but, for sure, we won't be bored!
Since free transportation starts at midday and we hiked more or less on all possible trails in Brig and Naters, this time we'll probably take a later train than usual and arrive shortly after 11:00. However, if you have never been to Brig, you can also consider arriving earlier and have a warm-up hike from Naters to the chapel of lost souls or to the Massa gorge. As first official meeting point of the weekend, I would choose Brig central square at 11:30, so as to enjoy the 11:00 Caracas Carnival (that starts at 11:11)
As for Sunday, we'll likely have a hike somewhere near Brig, possibly in Ausserberg if it's good weather or Eggerberg/Mund if it's cloudy/rainy (so as to end up by Brigerbad thermal baths?)
