Living in Winston-Salem

Winston-Salem is a large city in the US state of North Carolina and is located in Forsyth County. Often shortened to just ‘Winston’, the city is an important location for the region, with a number of industries present. The city is also known by its nickname as "The City of the Arts", due to the importance placed on the arts in the city. Consequently, expats living in Winston-Salem will find that there are a number of galleries, theaters and art schools in the area. Popular places to visit in Winston-Salem include SciWork, which is a Science Center and Environmental Park, and the Historic District of Bethabara, which is the location where Moravian immigrants first settled in North Carolina. Other attractions which expatriates living in Winston-Salem can explore include Old Salem and the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts. There are also opportunities to enjoy shopping at Hanes Mall and other areas, and to see the city’s baseball team, the Dash, play at the BB&T Ballpark.
