Further Information about Expat Life in Ulaanbaatar
Ulaanbaatar is a historical city which is home to many ancient places of interest, such as the Choijin Lama Monastery, the Bogd Khaan Palace Museum, and the Zaisan Memorial — commemorating those who lost their life during World War One and World War Two. The city also hosts Naadam, Mongolia's largest festival, where the popular sports of archery, wrestling and horse racing are practiced. The city has good transport links, with the Chinggis Khaan International Airport located 18 km south-west of Ulaanbaatar, rail travel available on the Trans-Mongolian line of the Trans-Siberian Railway, a local bus service and reasonably-priced taxis. There are several multi-language schools in the city and two universities: the Mongolian National University and the American Center for Mongolian Studies. Ulaanbaatar is also leading the way in health care in Mongolia, both for local people and expats.
