Cost of living and 'mongolian time' (Ulaanbaatar)
Hey InterNations community,
Am heading into Mongolia in March Protected content a year. Pretty excited about it and have been reading about other people's experiences on the website and through various blogs. Some positive, some negative, some all over the place.
I am wondering if anyone would be kind enough to throw out some $USD or Euro figures re: cost of living for two people (food, rent, internet). I am going to be in UB ! any areas to avoid?
I am also wondering about everything being pushed to tomorrow/margaash. Is it one of those places where everything is super slow and nothing gets done? I am thinking more along the lines of working hours and work itself. OECD reports suggest Monogolians work 10 hours a day but blogs seem to suggest that nothing gets done? Not sure how to address this duality. Am familiar with 'island time', 'Caribbean time', 'african time', and ofcourse the 'canadian/american' time where 8:00am means 8:00am. Any anecdotes and thoughts to share?
Any comments would be appreciated. Thank you in advance :)
p/s seems like I need to bring some masks for the winter!
