Southampton is a major port city and its close location to London — just 75 miles away — makes it a very attractive place to live. Around 250,000 people live in Southampton, which is also within easy reach of the beautiful and wild New Forest. Living the expat life in Southampton means getting involved in the local culture, which includes the popular annual Southampton Boat Show, held in September each year. The city is also keen on its art and there are many excellent galleries to explore.
