What to Expect from Your Life in Puerto Rico
The Caribbean island of Puerto Rico is filled with beautiful landscapes, including green mountains, waterfalls, and tropical rainforest. As a US territory, Puerto Rico has the benefits of a tropical island but with access to the US and its facilities. From the large city of San Juan to the beach city of Fajardo, there are a number of beautiful places to locate yourself in Puerto Rico. There has recently been a decline in job opportunities in Puerto Rico and many Puerto Ricans have been seeking jobs on the US mainland. Tourism and agriculture are the main economic sectors of the island, but debt and lack of investment has seen unemployment rise in Puerto Rico. However, the low-tax opportunities for expats have attracted many foreigners to work and live in Puerto Rico. It can still be difficult to find a job in Puerto Rico, but many expats that have set up businesses there have found it is more economically viable than somewhere like the mainland US because of the low taxes. Many expats also relocate to Puerto Rico for the laid-back lifestyle, beaches and relaxed way of life rather than for job opportunities.
