The city is the furthest south on the African continent (its just further down than Cape Town) and is one of the country’s largest seaports. Its waterfront is beautiful and classy (despite often being overlooked for the nearby Cape town) with plenty to enjoy and appreciate. The city has quite a mild climate — it neither gets particularly cold or hot, meaning it is a very comfortable place to live. Like most of South Africa, there are many languages spoken in Port Elizabeth. Of course, English is widely spoken, but so is Afrikaans and Xhosa so don’t be surprised to find yourself needing more than one tongue in your repertoire.
