Embark on Your Life as an Expat in Nicaragua
Nicaragua has some of the most spectacular terrains in Central America. From its stunning volcanoes, such as Momotombo, to its incredible lakes, particularly Lake Managua, Nicaragua is a natural paradise. And with its two coastlines, the Pacific and the Caribbean, that have excellent beaches and sailing opportunities, it's a great country in which to seek leisure pursuits, as well as work in the major cities of Granada and the capital Managua. While Nicaragua is still the poorest country in Central America, and the second poorest in the Western Hemisphere, export opportunities have increased and a deal with a Chinese-run company to build an inter-oceanic canal costing around 50 billion dollars should help with the country's infrastructure. However, expats generally don't choose Nicaragua for the jobs, many move there to experience an alternative way of living, to enjoy laid back Latin culture, and live in a warm climate. The cost of living is cheap, including housing and food expenses. Many expats relocate to the very expat-friendly colonial city of Granada, as opposed to the sprawling capital city of Managua.
InterNations is the largest global network for expatriates, with communities in 420 cities around the world. Meet fellow global minds in your city of residence or get to know local expatriates before you're moving or traveling abroad and never feel like a stranger. InterNations makes it easy for you to stay in touch with your expat friends, both online and offline, so you can grow your network of friends and contacts from all over the world. Whether they live in France or Saudi Arabia, InterNations allows you to be close to them even if they are miles away.
