Living in Nanchang
Nanchang is located in the southeast of China, and is the capital of the Jiangxi Province. It is known as ‘The Grand City’ because of its richness in scenery and culture as well as having a rich history. Located near the Jiuling Mountains and Poyang Lake it is an excellent city for expatriates living in Nanchang to experience. The city boasts a large number of attractions and historical sites, with one of the most popular for visitors being the Tengwan Pavilion of Prince Teng, which can be dated back to the 7th century and is one of the Four Great Towers of China. The Lushan National Park is also a major attraction, as is the Poyang Lake which is known for being China’s largest freshwater lake. There are numerous opportunities for shopping and enjoying some of the local cuisine and more, making sure that there is plenty to offer expats living in Nanchang.

Moving to Nanchang
Nanchang is a vibrant and diverse city, and the cost of living is considered low whilst housing is also affordable. It is a popular city with expatriates with many coming to the city to teach foreign languages. An expat with a family moving to Nanchang will find that there are a number of schools in the area, including universities, and there is a highly recommended international school, Nanchang International School. Nanchang is one of the major hubs for rail transport in south eastern China, connecting it to a number of other areas in the country, and it can also offer an airport as well as an extensive road network. Public transport in the area consists of water transport,buses and a metro system is currently under construction. The climate in Nanchang is described as being a monsoon influenced subtropical. Expats living in Nanchang will therefore experience hot, humid summers, cool winters whilst spring tends to be the most affected by rain.
Working in Nanchang
The city is known for being an important industrial center for the Jiangxi Province, and agriculture is one of the main industries in the area, especially for the production of rice and other products such as oranges. In addition to agriculture, expatriates working in Nanchang take up employment in other areas such as manufacturing and engineering with the Ford Motor Company having a large base in the city, as well as other industries such as medicine, pharmaceuticals, textiles, aircraft manufacturing and more.
