Living in Inglewood

One of the many cities in southwest Los Angeles country in California, Inglewood has a population of over 100,000 people. There are many interesting places to visit if you're travelling through Inglewood, or living there on a more permanent basis as an expat in Inglewood. The stunning Inglewood Park Cemetery, for example, is the place where many celebrities choose as their final resting place. Celebrity graves such as Ray Charles and Paul Walker can be found here, with many people leaving frequent tributes to their heroes. Living in Inglewood, or the city of champions as it's sometimes referred to, is a fun and exciting prospect for any expatriate moving abroad, but like most expatriation experiences, it can also be a little bit confusing and daunting at first. The InterNations website, with more than a million of like-minded expatriate members, aims to make your life abroad that much easier. Browse the forum posts, and search through the Expat Magazine to see what advice you can get on living and working overseas.

Moving to Inglewood

If you're thinking of moving to Inglewood but need a little bit of advice on making the move first, then you could do no better than visiting the InterNations forums to get advice from other expats living in Inglewood or other parts of California who have already gone through exactly this phase of an overseas assignment. A lot of people move to Inglewood due to its proximity to downtown LA, and the comparatively cheap housing that is in the area. The school system is also quite well-known, with many high schools and primary schools served by the Inglewood Unified School District. There are furthermore a couple of private schools in the area, one of which is a catholic school. The LA Forum is another attraction to the area, as it is one of the largest arenas in southern California that puts on music events, and it used to be where the LA Lakers played their basketball games.

Working in Inglewood

Once you've found a place to live, and your family have settled in, it's about time to seek out a job – if you haven’t already done so or been send to the US by your current employer, that is. Working in Inglewood might be similar to working anywhere else in the world. However, it can nevertheless be a struggle to settle in when you first make the jump overseas. The Expat Magazine has articles written by both expatriates who have been in similar situations to you and the InterNations in-house staff. Its articles explain key aspects of living and working overseas, and help you get a good idea of how to break through some of the cultural barriers.
