Since survey respondents are understandably reluctant to share confidential details concerning their salaries, we have instead asked them an optional question about the approximate range of their yearly household income. More than three-quarters of our participants chose to provide an answer.

This information gives an excellent first impression of the destinations that attract high-income expatriates and those countries where foreign residents make do with the proverbial shoestring budget.
