InterNations Silicon Valley April Event: Celebrate Vappu!

📅 **Date**: Tuesday, April 30th
⏰ **Time**: 5:30 PM - 9:00 PM
📍 **Location**: Off The Trail, Sunnyvale
Vappu, one of Finland's most beloved spring festivals, brings together the joy of May Day and Labour Day. Beginning on April 30th (Vappuaatto), this lively event sees Finns wearing white graduation caps and colorful university overalls to partake in parades, picnics, and carnival-style celebrations. Sweet treats like Munkki (donuts) and Tippaleipä (funnel cakes) are accompanied by the refreshing taste of Sima, a traditional non-alcoholic mead. In cities like Helsinki, parks come alive with music, champagne, more 🍾🍾 and laughter, while “capping” ceremonies mark the festive spirit in cities like Helsinki and Turku.
Across Europe, the arrival of spring is celebrated with gatherings, bonfires, music, and feasts that mark the transition from winter to renewal. These time-honored customs unite communities in a spirit of joy and reflection, embracing nature’s revival and the warmth of shared traditions.
Join us for an evening filled with connection, laughter, and celebration of the season of renewal and new beginnings. Whether you’re new to the community or a longtime member, this is your chance to experience spring in a unique and memorable way like the Finns do.
