There is a large retail presence in the city, but industry is featured highly too, as many international security companies have made their bases on the outskirts of the city. The economy of Breda has stabilized over the last few years although there are concerns that with an ageing population there will be a worker shortfall in coming years, hence the encouragement of new residents into the workforce.
The spearhead sectors for Breda are recognized as logistics, care, the creative/visual Industry and education. These industries accounted for 47% of the city’s workforce in 2013.
