Begin Your New Life as an Expat in Belarus
Belarus is split into six administrative regions and the capital, Minsk, has special status. The city of Minsk is the most populous region in Belarus and where expats will find the country’s main sights such as the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater, the large Chizhovka Arena, hosting hockey, indoor sports, and concerts, and Pishchalauski Castle. Expats working in Belarus will find that few people speak English and so an attempt to learn Russian or Belarusian is essential. Belarus’ main industries include the manufacture of agricultural and energy products and particularly heavy machinery which is the country’s main export. Other sources of employment include trading goods, agriculture, manufacturing sales, and education.
InterNations is the largest global network for expatriates, with communities in 420 cities around the world. Meet fellow global minds in your city of residence or get to know local expatriates before you're moving or traveling abroad and never feel like a stranger.
