Lunch and Exploring Historical Tophane Region
We will start our day at famousProtected content After having our lunch we will meet in front of the small clock tower ( Protected content ) in the middle of new Galataport square.
Our first stop is Nusretiye Mosque (Tophane Mosque), which was built in Protected content architect Krikor Balyan. The mosque is a fusion of Baroque and Empire architectural styles with an ornate exterior and large windows.
Next we will visit Tophane Pavillion, which is opened to public after Protected content . Built by British architect William James Smith, was completed in Protected content Sultan Abdülmecid. The pavilion was a place used by the sultans when they visited the military facilities in Tophane or when foreign dignitaries were welcomed, who came to visit the city by sea.
We will stop by the large Tophane Fountain of Protected content Mahmud I. It stands on the site of the old military parade ground.
Then we will visit Kılıç Ali Pasha complex designed and built by Mimar Sinan in Protected content . The complex consists of a mosque, a medrese, a hamam, a türbe, and a fountain. The mosque itself was constructed in Protected content . It was built for Grand Admiral Kılıç Ali Pasha beside the sea.
Across the street is Tophane-i Amire (Imperial Armory) now an art center temprary housing the exhibition "Genesis" by Sebastião Salgado, featuring photographs that capture beauty and natural wonders of our world. The exhibition invites visitors to consider the importance of nature conservation and understand the fragility of our planet.
