A Visit to the Exhibition "GHIKAS: A Journey From West to East"
To mark 30 years (in Protected content his passing, the museum is paying tribute to one of the most influential figures in 20th-century Greek art, Nikos Hadjikyriakos-Ghikas. Ghika’s work bridges Greek tradition, European avant-garde movements, and Sino-Japanese influences.
The exhibition, takes you through his transformative Protected content from the West to the East. As part of an educational exchange in Washington, Ghikas travelled through New York, Arizona, Mexico, and Hawaii, before continuing on to Asia, where he visited Japan, Hong Kong, and Thailand. This journey deeply impacted his work and worldview, which the exhibition explores through a collection of drawings, archival materials, and art pieces. His personal connection to Eastern art, as well as his love story with Barbara Warner, are highlighted through an interactive audiovisual experience.
