Advent in Szeged

Come and see this Art-Nouveau gem of Europe, the charming city of Szeged, Protected content from Budapest, close to the southern border of Hungary, which is the country's 3rd largest city, lying on both banks of the River Tisza, also known as the „city of Sunshine”, because it has the highest number of sunny days in Hungary.

SIGHTSEEING: walk around in this lovely place (if available, with the help of my niece who was born there; otherwise guided tour to be paid): Szeged Dóm, also known as the Votive Church (emblem of Szeged), University of Szeged (the oldest and one of the best and most prestigious universities in HU; actually my late brother’s former and my nephew’s current place of work), City Hall, Synagogue, Theatre, Water Tower, Tisza banks etc.

cca 13:30 LUNCH in a really great restaurant for authentic Hungarian cuisine (mainly fish, but also other types of food) in the inner city - try the traditional Szeged fish soup, its concept is almost synonymous with this restaurant.

After lunch visit to the cosy CHRISTMAS MARKET in the inner city (mulled wine etc.)

We come back to Budapest at 18:44 (or even if we do not go also to a café for a cake/drink – there are lots of them – at 17:44) and arrive in Bp. Nyugati at 21:09 (or 20:09).
