Spring Is in the Air!
The weather is looking great for Sunday, so let’s go to the Camelia festival at Parque de São Roque. As Porto City Council says on its official news website:
"On 1 and 2 March, Parque de São Roque will become the setting for the 29th Porto Camellia Exhibition, an event that celebrates the beauty of this flower and, at the same time, symbolically marks the transition to spring.
Admission is free and the programme is designed to involve all ages, combining nature, culture and leisure.
On Sunday, the event runs from 10am to 7pm, with the highlight being pianist Marco Figueiredo, who performs at 3pm, and the show ‘Echoes of the Belle Époque’, at 5pm, at Casa São Roque."
São Roque one of the lesser-known parks of Porto, but it is varied and interesting, with its own unique character. There is plenty to see and photograph, and the attractions include terraces, formal gardens, collections of Camelias, fountains and water features, a maze, views over the Douro and Estadio do Dragão and the Art Deco Casa de São Roque.
We will catch the metro to Estadio do Dragão, and from there walk to the parque (about 500m).
Afterwards we will make our way back to Campanha and visit 3 Doces restaurant for refreshment.
