The Moose Hike
Hi Internations hikers,
The moose (or elk) is the European biggest land animal and absolutely fascinating! And as it is not a rare sight around Vistula river, this is where we will go to try and spot it. Winter is a great time for observing those amazing animals: there is more visibility between vegetation, the males still have their antlers on and the young have become a bit more confident and independent.
While keeping our eyes peeled, we will be hiking Protected content along Vistula river and its wetlands vegetation. You will also learn a good deal of interesting facts about this species: its habitat and how it's adapted to it, what it feeds on and what surprising skills and habits it has.
As the moose feeds mainly at dawn, we will set off at sunrise to maximise our chances of spotting this beautiful animal. Please make sure to wear clothes in earth colors like brown, dark green or black. Bright colors will make our group too visible and might scare the moose away before we spot them. Also, make sure to wear waterproof boots or even better wellies, as we will enter wet grounds!
Welcome nature lovers and hikers, cheers,
