HIKING BUTCHER JONES TRAIL
Check out this 5.8-mile out-and-back trail near Apache Junction, Arizona. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 2 h 19 min to complete. This is a very popular area for hiking, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring.
This trail is rocky and narrow but enjoyable and offers great lake views. While passing through some sections of the Sonoran Desert, there are mesquite forests that provide some relief from the sun. The early portions of the trail have some morning shade, but as you move further east, there is no shade. The terrain can be challenging due to rocky sections, so proper footwear is advised.
