Outdoor Activity: Let's Go Hiking

Hi, on Sunday April 20, let's hike Lilienstein, a plateau in the Sächsische Schweiz. We'll meet at 9:45 at platform 21 at the Leipzig Main Station in order to catch the 10:00 train. We'll arrive in Königstein at 12:38 and then take the ferry across the Elbe to Halbestadt. From there it's 2 km through a flat field to the base of Lilienstein.

The trek up the plateau is just Protected content , but with a Protected content elevation gain. The view from the top will be worth it, with a 360° panorama over the region where we can see Königstein Fortress to the south, Great Bear Rock and Little Bear Rock to the west, and Děčínský Sněžník and Jedlová in the Czech Republic to the east. The summit of Lilienstein, Mulattenkopf, is an additional 30 meters higher, with a set of metal stairs reaching the top. The plateau also overlooks a big bend in the River Elbe. If we have enough time after descending, we can go for a walk along the Elbe to see the dramatic cliff faces of Lilienstein and the surrounding mesas from different angles.

There are trains back every hour. We can aim for the 16:18 from Königstein, arriving back in Leipzig at 18:50.

I have no info about the current weather forecast yet Please wear appropriate clothing and shoes. We also urge you to bring water and a lunch as we can't guarantee the availability of stores or cafes in a small village on a Sunday.
