The Embassy of the Hellenic Republic organizes a piano concert paying Tribute to Mikis Theodorakis celebrating the centenary of his birth, presenting a selection of his work that blends elements of Greek folk music with Western classical traditions, as well as a new composition, on a world premiere.

The young Greek pianist Konstantina Vidalaki, who grew up in Galatas, Crete, the same ancestral land that shaped Theodorakis' early musical identity, brings a deeply personal connection to this tribute. Surrounded by the landscapes, sounds and traditions that influenced the composer, she offers a heartfelt interpretation of his work, highlighting his versatility and emotional depth. Theodorakis' music is a reflection of the human condition, a call for justice and a hymn of hope. Embark on a journey that traverses the scenery of Crete, the struggles for freedom and the universal themes of love and unity.

The Finnish composer Matti Heininen will present, on a world premiere, his new composition inspired by Mikis Theodorakis, reflecting the universal impact of his work and the values mirrored.

The young pianist Konstantina Vidalaki, recipient of numerous prestigious awards, including the exceptionally given Gina Bachauer Prize, is considered as one of the most prominent emerging Greek artists of her generation. She regularly performs as a soloist and a chamber musician in world-renowned concert venues in Germany, Austria, Belgium, Greece, and has toured through South America.

Édith Piaf’s Protected content extraordinary life has left a lasting musical legacy that continues to be cherished decades later. Life is not something that happened to Piaf, it’s something that she made. She embraced life to the fullest, from the greatest raptures to the deepest sorrows. Despite her fame and fortune, she always lived on her own terms, choosing her company regardless of societal norms and expectations.

This new ballet offers a kaleidoscopic portrait of Édith Piaf’s life. It tells a true story while exploring the depths of the protagonist’s emotions. Though the choreography embraces the beauty and precision of classical ballet, it also incorporates the flow of contemporary dance to reflect Piaf’s unique gestures and movements.

Past Activities

World-famous violinist David Garrett will arrive at Protected content in Helsinki on 16 April Protected content part of his Millennium Symphony tour. David Garrett has had an impressive career spanning more than three decades. He is known for his virtuoso violin interpretations, which have captivated audiences around the world. Garrett’s special feature is the ability to combine classical music with the world of pop and rock, and this skill is especially highlighted in his latest project, the Millennium Symphony. On the album, Garrett transforms hits from artists such as Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Ed Sheeran and The Weeknd into new, symphonic works.

In his phenomenally successful career, Garrett has released a total of 17 albums and about twenty top ten positions in the European and US charts. His biggest crossover hit, Rock Symphonies, which combined Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, J.S. Bach and Edvard Grieg, among others, is one of many examples of how Garrett has managed to blend different genres of music. More than five million records sold and more than 5.6 billion streams testify to his international popularity. Garrett has been awarded 14 platinum records and 32 gold records, and has performed in more than Protected content around the world.

Originally known as a flamenco guitarist from Seville, Amador discovered a new world in jazz and piano and developed his original style by combining jazz elements with flamenco technique.

Amador, who was also nominated for a Latin Grammy, performs in Savoy with his trio. Come and experience the power of flamenco in a new way!

A sparkling ✨ evening full of the art of Argentine tango music and dance to celebrate the 25th anniversary of award-winning Glims & Gloms and... to celebrate my Birthday (yes, I'm turning 33 again that night! 🔥 )

What's more, one of the Performer that I love and admire is my dance teacher: Sanna Hento ❤️

The evening dedicated to the music of composer Astor Piazzolla (isn't he amazing?) offers an exhilarating fusion of Argentinian tango music and dance with an orchestra of 16: vocal soloist and 7 dancers. Tuomo Railo’s choreography surprisingly combines tango dance with a comprehensive expression of contemporary dance. The gleaming tango orchestra Guardia Nueva interprets Piazzolla’s music under Raimo Vertainen. The svelt is Simo Heiskanen.

GLIMS & GLOMS were founded by choreographers Simo Heiskanen and Tuomo Railo in Protected content . The award-winning theatre employs top art professionals, especially dance artists. Glims & Gloms produces performances where comedy touches, humor surprises and dance raises.
The GUARDIA NUEVA Orchestra is a mid-bottomed success story, with performances delighted audiences in Finland, Turkey and Argentina.

And it's just a start of this magical evening! We'll continue the night in a nearby place.
Dress code: any tango-related accent is highly valued.

The film Maria, which received almost ten minutes of applause at the Venice Film Festival, is directed by award-winning Pablo Larraín, who continues to portray the fates of famous women with his films, after the films Spencer and Jackie. The film about opera singer Maria Callas stars 49-year-old Angelina Jolie, who has already been nominated for the Oscar for Best Actress, making a spectacular return to the big screen.

The queen of the stage, Maria Callas, who lived a turbulent life in the Protected content , unknowingly spends her last years in Paris. Callas, who had her heart broken many times because of love, passed away at the age of only 53.

Let's watch the movie together and discuss it afterwards in the pub nearby.

The concerts are for free, but you must have a ticket to attend. Get your ticket in advance in the online store of the opera.. Concert tickets will be available Monday, February 3 at 12 p.m.

Tickets cannot be reserved by telephone, at our customer service point or Stockmann service desks. There’s a maximum of 2 tickets per customer.
