The fullness of the void - Bamboo art in Japan
This exhibition explores the world of bamboo in Japan, a cultural ensemble where the history of the archipelago, its art and its relationship with China are aggregated. The visitor will discover contemporary creations before apprehending the roots of a millennial tradition in a story that revolves around three major lines of artists.
The exhibition in a few lines
So far, only a few major international museums have devoted exhibitions to bamboo basketry: the Quai Branly Museum - Jacques Chirac in Paris Protected content , the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York Protected content , the Baur Foundation in Geneva Protected content .
La plénitude du vide - Art du bambou au Japon
Cette exposition explore l’univers du bambou au Japon, un ensemble culturel où s’agrègent l’histoire de l’archipel, de son art et de son rapport à la Chine. Le visiteur découvrira des créations contemporaines avant d’appréhender les racines d’une tradition millénaire dans un récit qui s’articule autour de trois grandes lignées d’artistes.
L’exposition en quelques lignes
Jusqu’ici, seuls quelques grands musées internationaux ont consacré des expositions à la vannerie de bambou : le musée du quai Branly - Jacques Chirac à Paris Protected content , le Metropolitan Museum of Art à New York Protected content , la Fondation Baur à Genève Protected content .
