Organ Sounds That Go Bump in the Night Featuring David Bailey
Let us enjoy a free concert inside the beautiful Lord Mayor's City Council's heritage-listed, built in Brisbane, between Protected content 1930. A fine example of neo-classical architecture, with its sweeping marbles, vaulted ceilings, chandeliers and mosaic-tiled floor.
The concert is held inside the Main Auditorium, the larger space in the building, which circular design is based on the Pantheon of Rome.
The stage has a superb organ, originally built by in Protected content Father Henry Willis, the greatest British organ builder of the late nineteenth century. It has more than Protected content , the longest one reaches 9.75 metres
David Bailey is an Australian theatre organist, composer and silent film accompanist based in Brisbane with a musical style influenced heavily by the popular music of the early to mid-twentieth century. A theatre organist firstly, David’s main form of musical expression has always been connected to the silent film world, but in Protected content brought this expertise back to the cinema and pursued an interest in silent film accompaniment.
Be taken on a historical journey of black-and-white films with a haunted theme, including Phantom of the Opera, Jekyll and Hyde, and Nightmare Before Christmas plus many more. Supported by marvellous singers, you will escape to another time and place where things go bump in the night.
