Stabat Mater

The Stabat mater in F minor by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi is a setting of the medieval poem of the same name for alto, soprano, strings and basso continuo. This is the Italian composer's best-known sacred work and was written in Protected content , just a few weeks before his death.
The version that is sung today was rewritten for mezzo-soprano, soprano and organ.
