ANZAC Day Commemoration March & Shrine of Remembrance
Melbourne’s Commemoration March on ANZAC Day allows veterans who have served Australia and its allies, to reunite and march together. This annual event is a meaningful opportunity for the public to acknowledge the sacrifices of past and present service members and reflect on their contributions to Australia’s defence and interests.
The March also welcomes descendants of veterans, encouraging them to participate in honour of their family’s military history. It serves as an educational and cultural experience, deepening appreciation for this significant day in Australian history.
The procession begins at 8:30 am with RACV vehicles carrying the first veterans, followed by the main march at 9:00 am. The event typically concludes before midday, allowing attendees to commemorate and pay their respects while witnessing the traditions upheld by those who have served.
Let's meet at 9.00 am at Foremost Coffee ( Protected content ), where you can grab your morning cuppa, and then head towards a spot to watch the march.
We will then go and explore the Shrine of Remembrance before wrapping up the morning with a drink/lunch by the Yarra.
