Family constellation, also known as systemic constellations or systemic family therapy, is a therapeutic approach that aims to uncover hidden dynamics within a family system. It's based on the idea that issues within a family can be influenced by past events and relationships, even across generations. In a session, the participant may use objects or people to represent family members and arrange them spatially to reflect their relationships. Through this process, patterns and conflicts within the family system can be identified and understood, allowing for healing and resolution.
