Join us in celebrating Women’s History Month & Jazz History Month with an all-star all-female ensemble.

Vienna-based Monika Herzig, jazz pianist, composer, and Professor of Artistic Research at the Jam Music Lab Private University in Vienna, leads this powerhouse group of internationally acclaimed female musicians. Celebrating their 10th Anniversary, the group recently released their fourth Album “All In Good Time” (ZOHO) produced by jazz legend Lenny White and supported by Chamber Music America. The album charted for 20 weeks in the JazzWeek Radio Charts and the group was featured at the Detroit Jazz Festival, DC Jazz Festival, Jazzmandu Festival in Nepal, Femina Jazz in Madrid, Porgy & Bess in Vienna, Birdland in New York, among many major festivals and clubs around the world. For this performance, the core quartet will share intricate compositions, masterful arrangements, and fierce improvisations curated with insights into the mission of the group and the musical process.

Saxophonist Gary Bartz, a two-time Grammy winner, was recently named Protected content Master by the National Endowment for the Arts. Currently teaching at Oberlin Conservatory of Music, Bartz has made 45 solo albums and performed with an astonishing array of jazz greats.

After studying at The Juilliard School, Bartz played with the Abbey Lincoln Group with Max Roach and the Charles Mingus Workshop. In the mid Protected content , he joined Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers during the recording of Soul Finger. He then worked with McCoy Tyner, deepening his connection to one of his major influences, John Coltrane. In Protected content , Miles Davis asked Bartz to perform with his band at the historic Isle of Wight Festival; soon after, Bartz formed his own group, Ntu Troop, which blends soul, funk, African folk, hard bop, and avant-garde jazz on such albums as I’ve Known Rivers and Other Bodies, based on the poems of Langston Hughes; Music Is My Sanctuary; Love Affair; Another Earth; and Home.

Join us for a special concert and release party for Rudy Linka’s new LP, Rudy Linka Trio Live, featuring Rudy Linka (guitar), Rudy Royston (drums), and Chris van Voorst van Beest (bass). Known for their dynamic interplay, groove, and melody, the trio connects seamlessly with audiences. Czech-born guitarist Rudy Linka, praised by DownBeat and the Philadelphia Inquirer, studied under Jim Hall and John Scofield and directs Bohemia JazzFest. Drummer Rudy Royston has performed with jazz greats like Bill Frisell and JD Allen, while bassist Chris van Voorst van Beest is celebrated for his lyrical style and diverse collaborations.
