Waiting for Godot - by Scena Theater
Scena Theatre proudly presents its upcoming production of Samuel Beckett’s iconic play Waiting for Godot, directed by Scena Theatre’s Artistic Director Robert McNamara.
The minimalist, existential play follows two characters, Vladimir and Estragon, as they wait for the elusive Godot. Set on a desolate country road, the pair pass the time through debate on when Godot will come, why they’re waiting for him, and whether they’re even at the right tree…
The play explores themes of time, uncertainty, and the human condition, raising questions about the purpose of life and the search for meaning. Despite their constant waiting, the characters’ situation remains unchanged, leaving the audience to reflect on the futility and absurdity of existence.
Rehearsals began in February in Dublin, Ireland, with a distinguished cast of Irish and American actors. The production has premiered at the Source Theatre in Washington, D.C., with performances from March 22 to April 13, Protected content .
Scena Theatre has a long and celebrated history of producing Beckett’s works, including, amongst many others, acclaimed productions of Happy Days, Beckett Shorts, and The Beckett Trio.
