The Swedish-Iranian filmmaker Nahid Persson is known for uncompromisingly critical films about her native country. In her latest documentary, she focuses on the Iranian journalist Ruhollah Zam.

Born into the family of a high-ranking Islamic scholar soon after the start of the Iranian revolution, in his youth he associated with top representatives of Iran's radical Islamic government. Yet he eventually found himself on the other side of the barricades – among the regime’s most vocal critics.
Ruhollah Zam began seeking the truth and became a journalist whose sources include influential Iranian businessmen and politicians, which makes his revelations extremely dangerous for the Iranian government. Since all Iranian media are government-controlled, the only way to work independently is in exile sohe flees to France in Protected content defying the mullahs in his country. With his news channel AmadNews, which he founded in exile in France, he uncovered Iran's money laundering activities. Following death threats, Roohollah Zam is placed under the protection of the French security service.
The film seems more like a spy thriller than a documentary. But tragically, it’s all too real.
