Visiting the Exhibition Chiharu Shiota
An Invitation to discover the exhibition Chiharu Shiota
Before seeing this immense artist in conversation on 15/01/25, we invite you to come and discover the exhibition ‘The Soul Trembles’ together.
Born in Osaka in Protected content now living in Berlin, Chiharu Shiota is world-renowned for her monumental installations of interlacing wool yarn. These giant canvases often envelop objects from her everyday life and invite the viewer on a majestic, dreamlike journey. Her protean creations explore the notions of temporality, movement and dreams, demanding a dual engagement from the viewer, both mental and physical.
The exhibition is the largest ever devoted to the artist in France. Covering over 1,200 square metres, it offers a sensitive experience. With seven large-scale installations sculptures, photographs, drawings, performance videos and archive documents related to its staging project, the exhibition represents an opportunity for visitors to familiarise themselves with Shiota’s career, which spans over twenty years.
Chiharu Shiota's installations, in which woollen threads intertwine endlessly, fascinate and question visitors. From performances to body art and assemblages, the exhibition reveals the dreamlike power of her works and invites the public to discover their diversity and striking splendour.
