Lunch, Walk and Drinks
This time we will visit the Oxford Museum of Natural History, first opened to the public in Protected content , and today second most-visited University museum globally, with 750.000 visitors/year.
The Museum holds an internationally-significant collection of natural history, in an impressive example of neo-Gothic architecture. It is home to a lively programme of research, teaching and events.
The collections include the famous Oxford Dodo. Further to the central exhibits featuring the dinosaurs, there are displays on a variety of themes: the History of Life, Vertebrates, Primates, ecc. Statues of eminent men of science stand around the ground floor.
We will meet at Protected content
We will walk towards the Centre and have lunch/drinks at Protected content , a pop-up café with a focus on planet-friendly meals, with ecolabels on many of the food and drink items, based on water consumption, water pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, and impact on biodiversity. There are also vegetarian and vegan options available, and plant-based milks are provided free of charge.
Then will head to the Museum Collections for a visit from 2:45 to 4:15. Later, we will have a short walk, a drink &/or dinner at Protected content , before taking the train back to Reading.
