The Suspended Hamlet Aka Lucca's Eye
Dear group,
we welcome this new year by exploring a remote town in the province of Lucca, where a fortress was built to monitor a vast part of the Republic of Lucca territories.
Due to its strategic position, and the bravery of two local girls, it was the only village to not be occupied by the Florentines during the war in the Middle Ages.
Once you admire the breathtaking view from the fortress you will understand why it wasn't difficult to defend.
The recce from the guide has still to take place, so I'll provide details on the hike at the soonest.
Some basic trekking equipment is required, that is, suitable dressing for the weather forecast and trekking shoes.
Carpooling will be attempted to reach the starting point of the hike but seats for everybody cannot be guaranteed.
Therefore, please consider using your own mean of transportation to reach the starting point; I'd be really grateful if you can offer seats to other participants!
Pls send me a private message to let me know if you need a lift and to provide your Whatsapp contact.
