The Suspended Hamlet Aka Lucca's Eye

Dear group,
we welcome this new year by exploring Lucchio, a remote town in the province of Lucca, where a fortress was built to monitor a vast part of the Republic of Lucca territories.
We're going to walk on a ring path, starting and finishing at Lucchio and we will reach the ridge of the mountain at the border of a territory called Svizzera Pesciatina, a very scenographic area which old visitors said to resemble Switzerland.
Due to its strategic position, and the bravery of two local girls, Lucchio was the only village to not be occupied by the Florentines during the war in the Middle Ages.
Once you admire the breathtaking view from the fortress, ranging from the sea, the Apuan Alps to the Pistoia Apennines, you will understand why it wasn't difficult to defend.
