Matisse - Invitation to the Voyage
Let's go to Basel to see the Matisse exibition at the Beyeler fondation.
The exhibition takes as its starting point Charles Baudelaire’s famous poem “Invitation to the Voyage”. It thus invites viewers on a journey through Matisse’s singular work, in which travel played an important part. During his explorations of countries such as Italy, Spain, Russia, Morocco, the United States and Tahiti, the artist found ever-renewed inspiration in the nature and art of other cultures.
We will meet at the Strasbourg train station at 10.30, buy the group tickets and take the 10.51 train to Basel. We will have to take a tram for the Beyeler fondation afterwards. For lunch, I suggest we have something on the train ; maybe we could have a coffee/tea at the museum’s restaurant after the exibition.
