Urban Horizons: Between Utopia and Reality
We invite you to an intense experiential journey that explores desired and utopian cities, imagined metropolises, and urban landscapes through the lens of 20th and 21st-century artists. The exhibition unfolds across multiple artistic mediums: painting, sculpture, architecture, photography, video, and music. These perspectives unveil the intricate and often contrasting identities of cities, each aspiring to overcome its inherent boundaries. The journey begins with Houses Under Construction by Umberto Boccioni, a pivotal Futurist whose work shaped European art in the early 20th century. Other highlights include Giorgio de Chirico and Gerhard Richter with a striking blend of photography and painting. Among the sculptors featured are Sol LeWitt, a minimal art pioneer, and Michelangelo Pistoletto alongside works like Dani Karavan’s Partition and Alberto Burri’s Cretto Bianco. The architectural dimension includes Le Corbusier, Stefano Boeri, Rem Koolhaas, Pietro Porcinai, Giovanni Michelucci, and Antonio Sant’Elia. Photography features the visions of Mimmo Jodice, Luigi Ghirri, and Olivo Barbieri. Contemporary video and music interpret the city as an organic entity, its sounds forming its voice. The experience culminates with an original film inviting visitors to reflect on the multifaceted identities of urban spaces.
